Questions Maryland homeowners ask

Which parts of Maryland do you cover?

We work across the state and pick up calls in the surrounding region as well, including Washington DC, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and North Carolina. If your city is listed below, start there. If you do not see it, call anyway and we will tell you straight whether we can get a truck to you.

My AC runs all day but the house still feels sticky. What is going on?

That is usually a humidity problem rather than a temperature problem, and it is common in Maryland homes from May through September. An oversized system short-cycles and cools the air without pulling enough moisture out of it. Leaky return ducts in a vented crawlspace pull damp outside air into the system. We measure both and tell you which one you have before we quote anything.

What can I safely check before I call for air conditioner repair?

Five things, and no more. Check the thermostat batteries and confirm it is set to cool with a temperature below the room reading. Look at the breaker panel for a tripped breaker. Change the filter if it is grey. Clear leaves, mulch and grass clippings back from the outdoor unit. Walk the house and make sure supply vents are open. Anything involving refrigerant, gas or high voltage is ours to handle.

I smell gas near my furnace. What should I do?

Leave the building right away and take everyone with you, including pets. Do not flip switches or use the phone inside. Once you are outside and away, call 911 or your gas utility. After they have cleared the property, call us and we will come look at the heating system.

How fast can you get out here, and what should I have ready?

Call us and we will give you a real window rather than a vague promise. It helps if you know the age of the system, where the indoor unit sits, whether the crawlspace or attic is accessible, and what the thermostat is reading versus what it is set to. If a breaker has tripped more than once, mention that. It changes what we bring.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a smell, water near the indoor unit. Details like that help us load the right parts before we leave.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose the whole system

We check the thermostat, the indoor unit, the outdoor unit and the ductwork, including runs in crawlspaces where damp air and loose joints quietly cause weak airflow and long run times.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the fix

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. Nothing gets replaced without your yes, and we clean up before we leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity is our home groundMuggy summers and damp shoulder seasons drive most of the calls we take. We look at moisture and airflow together, not the cooling number alone, because a clammy house often means a sizing or duct problem.
  • Crawlspace ducts get checkedOlder homes across the region run supply ducts through vented crawlspaces. Crushed flex, disconnected boots and soaked insulation show up constantly, and we get under the house to look instead of guessing from the register.
  • Heating and cooling bothSame crew for air conditioning repair in July and heating repair in January. We know how your furnace, heat pump and air handler share ducts and a blower, so one visit covers the whole system.
  • Plain talk on repair or replaceWhen a repair makes sense, we repair it. When a system is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say so and explain why, then leave the decision with you and your timeline.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
