Questions North Carolina homeowners ask

Why does my house feel clammy even when the AC is keeping up on temperature?

That is usually a humidity problem rather than a cooling problem, and it is common across North Carolina in spring and early fall. When outdoor temperatures are mild, the AC satisfies the thermostat quickly and shuts off before it has pulled much moisture out of the air. Oversized equipment, a blower speed set too high, or leaky return ducts pulling damp crawlspace air can all make it worse. We measure indoor humidity, check airflow and look at how the ductwork is sealed before recommending anything.

Which parts of North Carolina do you cover?

We serve homeowners across North Carolina and in Washington DC, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. The city pages linked on this page are the quickest way to see whether your address falls inside a route. If you do not see your town listed, call us anyway and we will tell you straight whether we can get a truck to you.

How soon can someone come out when the AC quits in July?

Call us and we will give you the soonest realistic window rather than a vague promise. Hot stretches fill the board fast, so morning calls generally do better than afternoon ones. Before we arrive, you can check that the thermostat is set to cool with fresh batteries, look for a tripped breaker, swap a clogged filter and clear leaves or grass clippings away from the outdoor unit. If one of those fixes it, call and cancel and we will free the slot for someone else.

What should I have ready before the technician gets here?

Have the thermostat accessible, know where the indoor unit lives, whether that is a closet, attic or crawlspace, and unlock any gate or hatch we will need. It helps to know roughly how old the system is and whether anyone has worked on it recently. Note what you heard or smelled and when the trouble started, because a noise that only happens on startup tells us something different than one that runs constantly. Please keep pets secured while we are moving equipment in and out.

I smell gas near my furnace. What do I do?

Leave the building right away, take everyone and any pets with you, and do not flip switches or use anything electrical on your way out. From outside, call 911 or your gas utility and let them make the house safe. The same applies if a carbon monoxide alarm sounds. Once the utility has cleared it, call us and we will come look at the heating equipment and the venting.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a smell, water near the indoor unit. Details like that help us load the right parts before we leave.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose the whole system

We check the thermostat, the indoor unit, the outdoor unit and the ductwork, including runs in crawlspaces where damp air and loose joints quietly cause weak airflow and long run times.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the fix

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. Nothing gets replaced without your yes, and we clean up before we leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity is our home groundMuggy summers and damp shoulder seasons drive most of the calls we take. We look at moisture and airflow together, not the cooling number alone, because a clammy house often means a sizing or duct problem.
  • Crawlspace ducts get checkedOlder homes across the region run supply ducts through vented crawlspaces. Crushed flex, disconnected boots and soaked insulation show up constantly, and we get under the house to look instead of guessing from the register.
  • Heating and cooling bothSame crew for air conditioning repair in July and heating repair in January. We know how your furnace, heat pump and air handler share ducts and a blower, so one visit covers the whole system.
  • Plain talk on repair or replaceWhen a repair makes sense, we repair it. When a system is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say so and explain why, then leave the decision with you and your timeline.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
