Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic

Ductwork Repair — Book a Visit Today

We repair, seal and replace residential ductwork across Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Washington DC, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Most of what we find is ordinary: disconnected flex runs lying in a crawlspace, failed tape at plenum joints, crushed elbows behind a return, and insulation that has slumped off and left bare metal sweating all summer. A visit starts with the rooms that bother you. We check static pressure and airflow at the registers, then go into the crawlspace or attic and follow the run until the loss shows itself. You get a plain description of what is leaking, what it costs you in comfort, and whether sealing the existing system is enough or a section needs replacing. Call us and describe the rooms that never feel right.

  • Dust settles again a day after cleaning Return-side leaks pulling unfiltered crawlspace air

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Change the filter if it is grey or loaded, and note the size and date on the frame.
  • 2Walk the house and confirm supply and return vents are open and not blocked by furniture or rugs.
  • 3Check the thermostat mode and setpoint, and swap the batteries if the display is dim or blank.
  • 4Clear leaves, mulch and vines back from the outdoor unit so it can breathe.

Ductwork Repair — quick answers

How do you know a duct is leaking?

We measure airflow and static pressure at the air handler, compare register output room by room, and then inspect the runs in the crawlspace or attic. Leaks usually announce themselves as dirty streaking at joints, slumped insulation or a flex run pulled off its collar.

Is sealing enough, or do I need new ductwork?

It depends on what the existing duct is made of and how it was installed. Sound metal trunks with failed joints seal well and last. Flex that is crushed, torn or badly undersized keeps causing the same complaint, so replacing that section is the honest fix.

Why does duct leakage matter more in a crawlspace?

A vented crawlspace is humid most of the year across our region. Supply leaks dump conditioned air where nobody lives, and return leaks pull damp, musty air into the house. You feel it as sticky rooms and smell it near the floor registers.

Will duct repair fix a room that never gets cool?

Often yes, if the cause is a disconnected run, a crushed elbow or heavy leakage upstream. Sometimes the branch was simply too small from the start. We measure before we promise, then tell you which of the two you are dealing with.

How long does the work take?

Sealing accessible joints and reconnecting a few runs is usually a single visit. Replacing a full crawlspace or attic distribution system takes longer and involves layout work, new trunk and boots, and insulation. We give you the scope and schedule before anything is cut.

Do you work around insulation and vapor barrier?

Yes. We move and reset crawlspace insulation and barrier as needed to reach the duct, and we tell you if what is down there is already failing. Ductwork sitting on wet ground or bare dirt gets addressed as part of the repair.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a smell, water near the indoor unit. Details like that help us load the right parts before we leave.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose the whole system

We check the thermostat, the indoor unit, the outdoor unit and the ductwork, including runs in crawlspaces where damp air and loose joints quietly cause weak airflow and long run times.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the fix

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. Nothing gets replaced without your yes, and we clean up before we leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity is our home groundMuggy summers and damp shoulder seasons drive most of the calls we take. We look at moisture and airflow together, not the cooling number alone, because a clammy house often means a sizing or duct problem.
  • Crawlspace ducts get checkedOlder homes across the region run supply ducts through vented crawlspaces. Crushed flex, disconnected boots and soaked insulation show up constantly, and we get under the house to look instead of guessing from the register.
  • Heating and cooling bothSame crew for air conditioning repair in July and heating repair in January. We know how your furnace, heat pump and air handler share ducts and a blower, so one visit covers the whole system.
  • Plain talk on repair or replaceWhen a repair makes sense, we repair it. When a system is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say so and explain why, then leave the decision with you and your timeline.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
