What a mini-split repair visit involves
We start at the indoor head, because that is where most symptoms show up. We pull and check the filters, look at the blower wheel and coil for the dust and biofilm that builds in humid weather, and trace the condensate path from the drain pan through the line to the exterior. Then we move outside to the condenser and the line set connections. Communication faults, low charge, failed sensors and blocked drains all look similar to a homeowner, so we confirm the cause before we touch a part.
What we check on the system
We read stored fault codes at the board, check the thermistors that tell the unit what the room and coil are doing, and test the outdoor fan motor, reversing valve and compressor operation. Refrigerant pressures and superheat tell us whether a line set joint or flare is leaking, which is common where lines run through a crawlspace or band joist. We check the disconnect, wiring at the terminal block and the condensate pump if one is fitted. Multi-zone systems get every head verified, not just the one you called about.

Why is my mini-split head dripping water down the wall?
Almost always a blocked or sagging condensate drain. Humid weather means the coil pulls a lot of water, and biofilm builds in the line. We clear the drain, check the slope and verify the pan is draining properly.
One zone works and another does not. Is that one repair?
Often yes. A single head can fail on its own sensor, blower or expansion valve while the others run fine. We test each zone and the outdoor unit to find whether the fault is at that head or shared.
