What the installation actually involves
We start with a load calculation for the room, not a guess, because an oversized head short-cycles and leaves the air clammy through our humid summers. Then we set the indoor head high on an exterior wall, mount the condenser on a pad or wall bracket outside, and run the line set, drain and control wiring through a small sleeved penetration. We pressure test and evacuate the lines, charge the system, and check airflow and drainage. Most single-head jobs are a one-day install, and we clean up behind us. One head, one room, done right.
What we check and what goes in
Before quoting we look at the electrical panel for available capacity and a spot for the disconnect, wall construction and insulation, window area and sun exposure, condensate routing, and where the condenser can sit without blocking a walkway or sitting in a puddle. We confirm the room's real heat gain and how you use it. On the install we set line set covers outside for a tidy run, a proper drain slope, and a filter you can rinse. We walk you through the remote, the modes and the dehumidify setting before we leave.
How we decide a mini-split is the right call
A mini-split makes sense when the space has no ducts, when existing ducts in a vented crawlspace cannot reach a new addition, or when one room runs eight degrees off the rest of the house. It also helps when you want to condition a bonus room without running the whole system. If your ductwork is sound and the problem is balance or a failing condenser, we will say so and price central air conditioning installation instead. We would rather fix the real cause than sell hardware.

Can one outdoor unit handle several rooms?
Yes. Multi-zone systems run two to five indoor heads off one condenser, each with its own thermostat control. We size the condenser to the combined load and confirm the line set routing works before committing to that layout.
Will a mini-split heat in winter too?
Most do. Heat pump mini-splits provide both cooling and heating, which suits shoulder seasons in our region well. For very cold snaps we discuss cold-climate models or keeping your existing heating as backup.
How much wall damage should I expect?
Typically one three-inch penetration per indoor head, sleeved and sealed, plus a mounting bracket. Outside, the line set runs in a cover along the siding. We plan the route with you before drilling anything.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a smell, water near the indoor unit. Details like that help us load the right parts before we leave.
- Step 2
We diagnose the whole system
We check the thermostat, the indoor unit, the outdoor unit and the ductwork, including runs in crawlspaces where damp air and loose joints quietly cause weak airflow and long run times.
- Step 3
You approve the fix
We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. Nothing gets replaced without your yes, and we clean up before we leave.

Why homeowners call us
- Humidity is our home groundMuggy summers and damp shoulder seasons drive most of the calls we take. We look at moisture and airflow together, not the cooling number alone, because a clammy house often means a sizing or duct problem.
- Crawlspace ducts get checkedOlder homes across the region run supply ducts through vented crawlspaces. Crushed flex, disconnected boots and soaked insulation show up constantly, and we get under the house to look instead of guessing from the register.
- Heating and cooling bothSame crew for air conditioning repair in July and heating repair in January. We know how your furnace, heat pump and air handler share ducts and a blower, so one visit covers the whole system.
- Plain talk on repair or replaceWhen a repair makes sense, we repair it. When a system is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say so and explain why, then leave the decision with you and your timeline.
- All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
- Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
