Why does my house feel clammy even when the AC is holding the set temperature?
That is a humidity problem, and it is the most common summer call we get in this region. If the system cools the air fast and shuts off before it has run long enough to pull moisture out, rooms end up cold and sticky at the same time. Oversized equipment, a dirty coil, low airflow from a clogged filter, or duct leaks pulling humid crawlspace air into the return can all cause it. Change the filter, then call us and we will measure airflow and static pressure to find the real reason.
How fast can you get someone out when the AC quits in July?
Call us and we will give you an honest window rather than a promise we cannot keep. Heat waves stack up the schedule, so no-cooling calls in an occupied home get priority, and we will tell you on the phone whether that means today or tomorrow. If you have a second system or a working window unit, say so, because it changes where you land on the list.
What should I have ready before the technician arrives?
Know the age of the system if you can, and have a path cleared to the indoor unit and the electrical panel. Tell us what you noticed and when: a noise, a smell, water on the floor, a breaker that tripped, or a thermostat that went blank. If you have had work done in the last couple of years, the old invoice helps. Also make sure any pets are secured and someone over eighteen is home.
Do you cover the whole area or only certain neighborhoods?
We work throughout Washington DC and also serve homeowners in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and West Virginia. The city pages linked on this page show where we run regularly. If you do not see your spot listed, call anyway, because coverage shifts and we would rather tell you yes or no than have you guess.
Is there anything safe I can check myself before I call?
Yes, and it solves a fair number of calls. Check that the thermostat is set to cool or heat and that its batteries are fresh. Look at the breaker panel for a tripped breaker. Change a dirty filter. Walk outside and clear leaves, mulch or overgrown shrubs away from the outdoor unit so it can breathe. Confirm supply vents are open and not blocked by furniture. Stop there. Anything involving gas, refrigerant or high-voltage wiring is ours to handle. If you ever smell gas, leave the building first, call 911 or the gas utility from outside, then call us.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a smell, water near the indoor unit. Details like that help us load the right parts before we leave.
- Step 2
We diagnose the whole system
We check the thermostat, the indoor unit, the outdoor unit and the ductwork, including runs in crawlspaces where damp air and loose joints quietly cause weak airflow and long run times.
- Step 3
You approve the fix
We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. Nothing gets replaced without your yes, and we clean up before we leave.

Why homeowners call us
- Humidity is our home groundMuggy summers and damp shoulder seasons drive most of the calls we take. We look at moisture and airflow together, not the cooling number alone, because a clammy house often means a sizing or duct problem.
- Crawlspace ducts get checkedOlder homes across the region run supply ducts through vented crawlspaces. Crushed flex, disconnected boots and soaked insulation show up constantly, and we get under the house to look instead of guessing from the register.
- Heating and cooling bothSame crew for air conditioning repair in July and heating repair in January. We know how your furnace, heat pump and air handler share ducts and a blower, so one visit covers the whole system.
- Plain talk on repair or replaceWhen a repair makes sense, we repair it. When a system is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say so and explain why, then leave the decision with you and your timeline.
- All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
- Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
